I planned a Baby Shower for a friend who was very interested in something non-traditional. She was planning a very nature inspired nursery with rich earth tones and organic undertones.
I made the invites and used her sonogram in the invite to have the baby included from the start.
Here is our "tree of life" cake.
For the shower favors we used seed/grow kits by bumblee bee ( found at a local fabric store for about a 1.00 a piece ) and we wrapped them in tulle circles ( from a dollar store) and used it's a boy ribbon ( from a dollar store )
The card holder was made from a apple bushel basket and decorated with ribbon and sage and blue polkadots..
The centerpieces were easy and cheap to create...using tin water pitchers and filled with moss and then we stuck greenery inside and twigs and wrapped plaid ribbon around the pitchers and littered the table with riverstones. I made them for under $ 10.00 a piece.
We also made " advice for the mother to be cards and arranged them in front of the place settings.
We did the food potluck style by contributing all of the mother to be's favorites so that we could afford to spend more money on the baby .
I had a hard time finding anything on the web for nature inspired themes. I hope these idea help you out. Feel free to use them. I got a lot of great feedback from shower attendees.
