I am part of a group of mom's in my small town that get together almost daily to walk, go to the park, etc. We get together without our children on Thursday nights to have normal conversations, etc.
Anyway, one of our moms is about to have her second baby and has a 2-year-old. Her husband works a long-hour job and goes to school at night, so she will be home with a newborn and a toddler every day and evening.
Our group of moms, instead of giving her a baby shower gift basket with a bunch of blanket, onesies, etc, is giving her a book of certificates with things each of us are going to do for her after the baby comes....cook a meal, vacuum, fold laundry, change sheets on the beds, mow the yard, hold the baby while she takes a shower, whatever she won't feel like doing.
We all agreed this was something we all would have loved having with a new baby!
