I was hosting a baby shower for my daughter April. This was to be my first grandchild. She is in the Navy, stationed in California, so her family back home doesn't get to see her very often. I decided to make a theme of Memories of a Lifetime shower.
Here is what we did.
Birthday Cards - I purchased birthday cards for 20 years. Some were numbered on the front. When guests arrived, I had them pick a card. I then asked them to write a message to Sophie (our granddaughter to be) inside. At the end of the shower, I collected all the cards. I took photographs of everyone at the shower and enclosed the corresponding photo to the matching birthday card. Each year Sophie will receive a birthday card from someone from her shower. (I have been assigned the safe keeping of the bow bound cards and detail of mailing them out ;-)
How extra special the cards will be from those who have passed and gone on to heaven but Sophie will see them as they were at her baby shower.
Advice and Message Video - I also video taped a message from each of the guests. Words of love and advice to the mother and welcome greetings to our Sophie.
Memories of a Lifetime Video - After all the gifts were open, photos taken and guests were gone. I began the Memories of a Lifetime video. Having knowledge and software on my computer, I incorporated the 3D ultrasound, still photos and advice and message video and made a personalized 'Memories of a Lifetime" video. It was fabulous and all who have seen it, loved it! This I think Mother and new daughter will cherish 'for a lifetime'
