My diaper cake was made for my daughters baby shower. This was for my first grandchild and was the first time i had ever tried to put one together. I had never even heard of a diaper cake but when i seen one online i figured i would give it a shot.
I had heard lots of ideas for diaper cakes and researched them but wound up doing more of my own idea. The little baby bottles on the sides are filled with nerds candy, my daughters favorite. The bow and tail I made myself. It's a wired ribbon and I took wooden letters painted them pink and put a darker shade of pink polka dots on them along with a heart a star and a circle that I drew a baby's face on and then I glued them to the ribbon.
Alot of the ideas I had heard were that these cakes were for baby accessories like bottles, pacifiers, grooming items, baby lotion and bath, but I figured she would get lots of those at the shower so I just dressed it up with other kinds of items like bows, ribbons, baby blocks and of course a cute little Teddy bear.
I really found this to be an original kind of gift. It was a huge hit at the shower, I got lots of compliments.
