I made this diaper cake out of 198 diapers with the overlapping method. It is standard for a diaper cake to be covered with small baby necessities but I was bothered by the random size and color scheme of these items. Instead of placing them on the outside of the diaper cake I put them into a hat box. I then formed the bottom tier around the box and stacked two more tiers on top. In order to keep with the brown, pink, and green monkey theme the tissue paper and ribbon where wrapped around accordingly. The recipient loved the cake so much she kept it for five months before unwrapping it,(when she really needed the diapers inside). When that time came she was surprised to find more goodies inside and thanked me again.
