I recently attended a baby shower with the cutest idea (and one with sentimental value, too).
A grandmother-to-be, who helped plan her daughter's shower, still had access to the same crib that she used for her children as babies. The crib had been in storage and was in great condition.
Prior to the baby shower gifts, she decorated the crib in fresh, baby blue linens for her new grandson, then placed the crib at the entrance. As guests entered the shower venue, they were then instructed to place their gifts in the crib. It was filled to the rim! Next to the crib was a bulletin board of old photographs of her daughter as a baby in the same crib!
Guests loved it, and it was cuter for the shower pictures than just a table stacked with gifts.
