Baby Shower Cake
I was delighted and so blessed when I found out my daughter was having my first grandchild, a boy who we named Aiden. I have planned other events but I wanted to go all out for my grandson. It took months to plan but it well worth it. My daughter and son-in-law were so thrilled at the outcome. Everyone complimented me on a job well done.
We decided on a rubber ducky theme. For the centerpieces I used fish bowls with rubber ducks. For the bubbles I used foam and glass balls. My husband made blue gel candles with a mild jasmine scent. I made the table runners with crepe streamers with cut out ducks glued to them.
For the favors, I made little boxes that included lotion, shower gel, and sugar scrub in baby bottle favor containers. I also make walnut brownie pops. The guests were really impressed by the favors.
For the room decorations I used clear balloons that I allowed to float to the ceiling to resemble bubbles. I came across a diaper gift/decoration in the form of a motorcycle online and decided to try to make it. I was happy with the outcome. I sat a bear on the motorcycle holding a rubber duck. My daughter still has not taken it apart. Above the gift table, I hung onesies on a clothesline that spelled out Aiden.
The menu consisted of pizza, wings, salad, and of course cake. We choose a sheet cake with dish and spoon shaped duck that could be later used for the baby.
We played three games and we all had fun. The gifts for the games were all items that could be used in the bath or shower. We were blessed with Aiden’s arrival, April 23, 2011. I am enjoying being a grandma.
