I put the first $20 in and encourage others to donate. I have had mothers to say my husband and I put our change in daily and we were surprised how much it grew in a month, a year or even 10 years. When the child was old enough, they taught their child to save. I say you have learned a valuable lesson- it was not about the bank, or the twenty dollars. It was about teaching parents how to save and they would inturn teach their children.
